    Trauma and EMDR

    Trauma affects our minds, our bodies and our spirits. Whether severe, such as divorce or loss of a loved one, or of a more chronic form, such as living with someone who is verbally or physically abusive, trauma is treatable.

    Healing begins here. One method of treatment that I utilize is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Through this methodology we will look at the underlying cause, then determine the negative beliefs that were generated from this. We transform these into positive self statements that help you improve coping and make the traumatic event just a memory, not a memory that hurts.

    EMDR is the model developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. It is one of the most widely reviewed and authenticated approaches to trauma recovery. I am fully trained and have been using EMDR since 1999.
